Staycation at the Hyatt Calgary
What better way to kick-off my Mother’s Day weekend then to have a staycation with my little sister at the Hyatt Calgary.
The Hyatt Calgary recently renovated the guest rooms featuring contemporary interiors with warm wood with rich navy furniture and gold accents. Located on centre street steps down the street from the Calgary tower, it is easy to forget you are in the middle of the city when you lay down in the plush beds and let your head sink deep into the pillow.
Two Queen Beds facing the west side of the city
Maybe the best lit bathroom I have ever seen
Every hotel in the world should have this! I love that the bathrooms have a filtered water faucet 🙂
If you live in Calgary, and have been lucky enough to visit the Stillwater Spa in the Hyatt or any of the event rooms, you probably already noticed the incredible art hung throughout the building. There are actually 600 pieces of art in the Hyatt Calgary from very notable western Canadian artists.
I love the massive inverted canoe when you first enter into the lobby (pictured below).
After we checked in and freshened up in our room, we headed to the patio at the Thomson Restaurant for some bites and cocktails. The sun was shining and the festival drinks really put everyone in the spirit of the TGIF.
Cocktails were followed by many laughs and delicious courses of food at Thomsons. We enjoyed a delicious dinner created with local farm-to-table ingredients, inspired by local flavours.

Beautiful local selection of wine
From the Thomson restaurant, we went immediately to the Stillwater Spa on the second floor of the Hyatt. I love the Stillwater spa for massages or pedicures. It truly feels luxurious walking in and it is no surprise it was named one of the 50 best spas in Canada. My sister had a relaxing hand massage 🙂
Following the visit to Stillwater Spa we made our way up to the 18th floor to have dessert in the Regency Club. In the Regency Club you can soak up views of the city from the massive panoramic windows and enjoy a selection of beverages. We were treated to a variety of ice cream desserts, that was a really sweet ending to an already special day.
When we got back to the room, my sister and I decided to continue our pampering before bed…
Saturday started with morning wellness yoga practice. A small group of us completed a one hour yoga practice in a beautiful private meeting room on the 3rd floor of the hotel. This was such an amazing way to start the day. Especially considering it was followed by an enormous brunch buffet at the Thomson Restaurant. They buffet featured anything you could possibly imagine, including a caesar bar! The caesar bar has endless options to accessorize the caesar of your dreams….
The caesar bar launched last month and I am sure will be a hit from now on 🙂
Thank you so much to the team at the Hyatt Calgary for having us for the staycation and indulging us in all the hotel has to offer.
