I really love all the collaborationsH Project has been doing since 2013. The goal of these ongoing charitable collaboration programs is to raise money for a local or global charity through the sale of a worldwide exclusive item, in this case the KENZO #HOLTSBLUE clutch and wallet. It has become an important part of who they are as a brand and adds to their reputation of social responsibility.
I am particularly keen on protecting the oceans and have been from a very young age. If you ask anyone in my elementary classes, they would tell you I had wanted to be a marine biologist when I grew up. Unfortunately math and sciences weren’t my strong suit, so I ended up in the arts 🙂 I have always had a fondness for the ocean. I spent my summers as a child in the pacific ocean when I would stay with my grandma off Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I would wake up as early as I possibly could to go out and beach comb while the tide was out, to find as many sea treasures as possible. Now a days, I don’t get to dive as much as I would like living in the prairies, but when I do, there is nothing like it. Being unreachable from technology 70 feet below the surface, hearing only the songs of humpback whales, watching turtles…thats my jam 🙂 I can’t wait to dive with my daughters one day. It is crazy to think that only 4% of the worlds oceans are protected!!! 🙁
The Blue Marine Foundation exists to combat over-fishing and the destruction of biodiversity – arguably the largest problem facing the world’s oceans – by delivering practical conservation solutions, including the creation of large-scale marine reserves.
BLUE’s aim is to put 10% of the world’s oceans under protection by 2020 and 30% by 2030.
