The Bridgette Bar
Yesterday I experienced a major 70’s nostalgia vibe. Macrame plant hangers, Blue Öyster Cult playing through the speakers filling the mod warm wood interior with a groovy ambiance all it’s own. Bridgette Bar is located in Calgary at 739 10 Ave SW, but feels like Northern California in decades past. The vintage motorcycles are reminiscent of the day of Easy Rider. I could see Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper taking a load off here. If you are looking for somewhere to get toasty by a wood burning fire and throw back a few cocktails, Bridget Bar is the place. I took quite a few photos because I was so intrigued and impressed by the interior.
The food selection is great. A chef JP Pedhirney driven bar in the heart of Calgary’s Design District. A new and exciting concept for this city. I would describe the menu as American fusion. There is a Mediterranean influence for sure (hummus, lebnah, eggplant, zatar, olives and pizza), but there is the infamous trendy avocado toast, and all the proteins one could ever want (Octopus, BBQ pork, Waygu Beef Carpaccio and even braised rabbit). Myself, being vegetarian, I alway look at menus and expect I can maybe eat about 20% or less of the options… but this menu has ample vegetarian options. Good, filling, delicious vegetarian options 🙂
The cocktail list is fun and I am happy to report- they even have kombucha, of which I had two servings on this occasion (sometimes I crave effervescence without the enthusiasm that comes along with champagne).

Endive Salad- Mozzarella Dressing, Burrata, Orange, Pecan and Herbs
Water Cress & Charred Beet Salad- Blackberry Beet Vinegarette, Pistashio, Ricotta Salata
Charred Brussel Sprouts- Roasted Garlic Lebnah, Seed Zatar (this dish is spectacular)
