KO Review of NYFW Fall 2015
It was a brutally cold few days in New York City this week. You wouldn’t know it from watching all the scenesters in their lack of layers parading their frocks around Lincoln Centre hoping with all their being to be photographed by Tommy Ton or some other credible publication giving them instant klout with their followers and snap chat friends alike. What a circus it was to observe. Over the past five years I have been attending New York Fashion Week, it has never been this ridiculous. In fact, when I attended Milk studios for the first time, it was industry only.
I don’t know if the popularity of bloggers attending NYFW shows has been beneficial or more detrimental to the industry, but personally speaking I would lean-to the positive side. Now we instantly see the looks, and from all different angles and opinions. We don’t have to wait for Vogue orHarper’s Bazar to style them, we see them through the eyes of our favourite front seat bloggers via instagram or snapchat. The problem however, is when you receive an invite to a show, and arrive to a completely chaos situation, not being able to get to the front door, then calling an Uberand getting as far away from it as possible. Yeah, that happened. More than just to me, and more than once this NYFW. Thank god for Uber, to save my freezing flesh in that ice cold instance. IT’s just not worth it.
In those sitautions, I am happy to be in my cozy room in the Waldorf Astoria with my great wifi connection watching shows live via Style.com. No, I won’t have great social media snaps, but I can focus on the fashion rather that the circus surrounding it.
Moving on… trends for Fall 2015 are moving out of minimalism and normcore, into maximalism. Colors! Textures! Bold Embellishments! So much to look forward to. Below are my favorites to illustrate the trends…enjoy!
