“I don’t want to go to heaven, I don’t want to go to hell. I want to go to Diespace”

Did you ever wish there was a way for your soul to live on forever? A way that after you have passed on, loved ones and future ancestors can contact you? If you answered yes, then you will need to get a Diespace 3.0 account. Pips:lab the tech-theater group-meets lumosol performance artists from Amsterdam are here in Calgary for Beakerhead at the Grand Theatre for three more opportunities to have your soul live on forever through the interactive performance DIESPACE. Born in the underground party scene of Amsterdam, PIPS:lab is known throughout the Netherlands for producing raw, expressive, visually-stunning, interactive multimedia performances. The six members of this tech-theatre collective have emerged as do-it-yourself masters of the unexpected.

Last night Binzento and I had the good fortune to join in on this interactive night of fun, tons of laughs, creativity and entertainment you are directly involved in as an audience member. We loved it and had such a blast! There are three shows left to be part of the Diespace revolution. Click HEREto buy your tickets. This was the first Beakerhead event attended and I am really impressed.

Diespace 3.0

A co-production with Theatre Junction GRAND, PIPS:lab is an interactive digital technology-meets-theatre performance from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where the audience is part of the show.

Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Friendster, LinkedIn… sites you are supposed to want to join. Now Amsterdam’s tech-theatre group PIPS:lab wants you to join one more, Diespace.nl. There is one prerequisite though: you have to be dead to join. On Diespace 3.0 you upload your soul so that you can continue communicating from the afterlife. The audience plays the roles of invitees to a Diespace 3.0 sales pitch, interacting with the technology in a performance that blends music, theatre, film and a healthy dose of comedy into an absurd theatre/media installation.

Beakerhead is an annual, citywide, interactive movement that explodes with creativity. It brings together the arts and engineering sectors from across the city, province, country and world to build, compete and exhibit interactive works of art, spectacle and entertainment during an annual week-long international happening each fall.

From outdoor artworks and late-night laboratories, to community contests and celebrations, interactive digital events to event premieres, Beakerheadcreates a crucible of human ingenuity, mixing energetic community involvement with international talent. The first Beakerhead is taking place now in Calgary, Alberta on September 11-15, 2013. To check out the schedule of events click HERE.
